Jason on June 22nd, 2008This report comes to us today from Captain Ken Griffith of Lil’ Spoon Guide Service in Port Mansfield:
That day (6/12/08) the water was in good shape and winds were 10-15 mph , walking the edge of a bar I like to fish alot walking along throwing my bait of choice Sea Devil. Myself and one other were catching trout from 22 inches to 26 inches, while one of the others guys who grew up down here in South Texas was catching only 16 -18 inchers. I went over to him and took him across a gut, within spitting distance of the port water tower, in 3-5 ft of water he made one cast with a Black Sea Devil and about five minutes later he had his first trophy trout ever 31 inches. Up until then his biggest was 24 inches.
As i always close with GOOD DAY CAPT. KEN

What the best way to fish your baits?
Thanks,

@Bill- Work them slow and bounce them along the bottom, that seems to work for a lot of people. Sometimes, when things are slow, I’ll put on a heavy jighead and work the lure real fast, ripping it across the top. That usually will stir up a trout if there is one around
