Well, it’s been a bit chilly here lately but spring is coming. We’re all hoping to get in that last cold wadefishing trip in search of what our buddy Mr. Shupe calls “The Holy Grail” of Texas inshore fishing. For those of you stuck behind a desk we have a new fishing website for you to check, plus some news and reports from both Team Blue Heron Adventures and Team 4-Play from the recent Third Coast Kayak Series Tournament held in Corpus Christi, Texas. The Houston Fishing Show is also coming up real soon and we will be there with Fishing Tackle Unlimited so if you get a chance stop on by to see us.

Third Coast Kayak Series - Team Blue Heron Adventures -
Report from Charlie of Team Blue Heron Adventures
I joined up with my teammate, Capt. Steve Utley of Blue Heron Adventures guide service, for a morning of fishing last Friday. We were pre-fishing for the Third Coast Kayak Series in Corpus Christi. It was to be the first of five tournaments scheduled for the year… Steve led me to a quiet pocket a short distance away, and within minutes of our arrival I was hooked up on a nice keeper class redfish. The fish fell to Amber - Brown Lures Sea Devil, fished on a 1/16 oz jig head. We snapped a couple quick photos, and released the fish to fight again another day. Capt. Ruben Garza - Team 4-Play -
Team 4-Play consists of Erika Carpio, Sandra Garza, Paul Messing, Capt. Ruben Garza, and alternate Bernie Carpio MD. The girls had been pre-fishing for the tournament since the first weekend in February so when tourney time came we would be prepared for the event. Friday’s pre-fishing was tough due to a small front coming through. What a day! Erika got into some tailing reds and Sandra and I caught several reds and trout. The good thing is that one of the trout I caught was 25” plus and solid… The day before I had caught all of my trout on Dark Strawberry Blue Sea Devils, so we continued to use these to catch our fish. If Paul and I were fishing for limits, let me tell you we would have been done in about an hour. We caught so many trout we lost count, but they had no size to them. Mark Owens - Austin Kayak Bass Fishing Tournament On February 23rd the Austin Kayak Bass Fishing Tournament was held at Walter E. Long Lake (aka Lake Decker) up in Austin. The tournament started at 7:30 in the morning for a day that proved to be challenging. Early morning brought some calm conditions with great clarity along with a nice amount of cover.
